Basketball

I like to play basketball. Today was my first game. I am on the Trailblazers, but I volunteered to join the Nuggets today so that they would have enough players. I earned a white star today because of my Christ-like attitude. In basketball you have to dribble, be a good sport, pass the ball, and guard someone from the other team. It is hard to play basketball. It is hard to dribble. I got tired in my game.

Jordan is in Upwards basketball at our church. This is a learning league with emphasis on spiritual growth and encouragement. They do not keep score and every child plays at least ½ of the game. Jordan’s team is made up of K-2nd graders. The kindergartners and 1st graders pretty much have no clue what they are doing. Today was the first game and the team that Jordan was going to play was short a player. When they asked for volunteers to play for the other team, Jordan’s hand was the first one up. So today he was a Nugget playing against his own team-the Trailblazers.
Because he was not at practice last night (we were at Sesame Street Live), he had no clue what he needed to do. I guess we probably should have had him watch a basketball game before we had him try to play. The first few minutes he spent twirling and skipping down the court. He did get to “dribble” it a few times. I guess he will learn as the season goes on. I can take comfort though in the fact that few other children knew what they were doing. It really was humorous to watch.
This is how he spent the last minute of each 6 min. period (3 each half) because he does not like the buzzer.

Sesame Street Live

I loved it so much. I liked the confetti shooting out at the end. I liked that Big Bird got to have it as his show.

On Friday night, we got to go to Sesame Street Live. A few weeks ago Stefan was watching the morning news and they were running a contest to win free tickets. He entered and they called and told him that he was the grand prize winner. He won four free front row tickets. (I think that there was no one else who entered) We took my cousin’s son Colby with us. He is four years old.
The show was about the characters and what they wanted to be when they grew up. Elmo wanted to be everything that the other characters said they wanted to be and Big Bird couldn’t decide what to be. We were the only ones sitting in the front row until after the intermission when a few people moved up. The characters came right down in front of us and Jordan and Colby got several hugs and high-fives. It was really neat to be that close.

Christmas

I had a great time at Christmas. I got a Megaship space shuttle from my Grandma and Grandpa Tarbox. I love going to Grandma’s house. I got to play outside in the snow. I wish there was snow at my house. I got an mp3 player from Mommy and Daddy. I love to listen to the Witch Doctor song on it. I also had fun racing my motorcycle toys with Daddy. By Jordan

Christmas wasn’t so fun for me. I woke up on Tuesday morning with a horrible earache. Thankfully the doctor was able to fit me in Tuesday morning. Turns out that I had swimmer’s ear. The odd thing is that I haven’t been swimming since September. The doctor gave me drops to heal my ear, but nothing for the pain. I was taking Tylenol and Aleve and neither was helping with the pain. I didn’t start to feel better until Friday morning. On Friday morning I woke up with intestinal issues and vomiting. I ended up sleeping most of the day. So as you can tell-my Christmas was not very fun.
Here is what our Christmas week was like:
Saturday: exchanged gifts with the Painters, went to Stefan’s aunt’s house for a family dinner, went to Journey to Jesus (met up with the Robinsons and Gibbs), went to Christmas Tree Shops-excellent store
Sunday: Church was canceled for a dusting of snow—what’s up with that?
Monday: Made Chocolate Chex Mix, white chocolate trees in a mold, finished wrapping presents
Tuesday: excruciating pain in my ear, doctor’s visit, pictures with Santa at the mall, pictures at Picture People (nothing like procrastinating)-rescheduled from the morning when I had my appointment, made green Jello jigglers in tree molds
Wednesday: opened our presents, packed up, traveled to my parent’s house (almost 3 hours away), family get-together with my dad’s side of the family

Thursday: opened Christmas presents with my parents and my brother, his girlfriend, and their baby, Aidan, went over to my grandma’s house (mom’s mom)—we already did Christmas with my mom’s side of the family at the beginning of December-- went to my aunt Bonnie’s house (dad’s sister)

Friday: woke up with my ear feeling slightly better-but feeling very, very, sick, Jordan, Stefan, my mom, my dad, and my uncle Terry went sledding riding
Saturday: traveled back to Elizabethtown, unloaded car, went to New Holland for gift exchange with Stefan’s family
